A day with GiS Surveyor

I am a GiS-suveyor.The duty of me is searching data for the cartography.Which, data of those. For example: place, name, size, character etc. Such as , I will sketch some line of road in a map. The thing that an serveyor like me must do be going out picks a position by use GPS-receiver, write road name , wideness size and length of the road, the character of the road such as, be concrete road laterite or ground ,etc. But ,that depend on a map such ,get into trouble about ? You must know why is that map uses ? , apply to which organization. Explain be simple be what is a map particularly and about?

Today I'm work at province "Mahasarakham". Which company which be my employer,work with, The Provincial Waterworks Authority of a province , Mahasarakham. By The Provincial Waterworks provincial Authority , Mahasarakham , use a map in data saving of oneself customer call that "water user" ,the size and a kind of pipe line that service in the area , separate and a kind of the user , including a position of the fire-hydrant ,valve and water meter ,etc.
